shack.
cabins for life.
Architectural & avant-garde properties, built sustainably, for home, country estate & resort.
About us.
From the very beginning shack. felt like a big idea - bigger than the simple desire to make beautiful, aesthetically-inspiring, emotionally-stirring cabins.
With shack. a deeper ambition has always stirred in us - to turn what we love designing and crafting, and how we love being outside, into a product that brings similar pleasure and reward to others.
This became shack. - the concept of garden living and home life, reimagined – where we believe we can bring joy to people's homes and everyday lives, add genuine value to their properties, and always do so in ways that are sustainably-minded and step gently on our planet.
The Outland - 3 & 4-bed.
When we talk about being a "cabin company", we mean cabins in the international, 21st Century sense. As in, amazing, luxury buildings made from timber, steel and glass. If you’ve ever visited California, British Columbia, New England, Norway or Sweden, then you probably know exactly what we mean.
Having explored the globe and been inspired by the very latest in timber construction and materials innovation, we have created a series of proprietary and bespoke Shack building designs, in service to helping make everyone's everyday lives just that little bit happier and healthier.
We recently debuted our 3 and 4-bed "Outland" at Silverlake estate in Dorset.
shack. sustainably.
We love designing and building out of wood. We also love trees, walking through woods, breathing fresh air, and doing what we can to make sure this precious and delicate planet we call home is protected and sustained for generations to come. For us, this simply means acknowledging how our decisions and consequential actions play forward, for better or worse - and we’d prefer it to be for better. That’s why we operate as a net zero practice.
For every tree that goes into a shack. cabin, we plant a tree.
1 for 1, net zero in consequence.
We always wanted shack. cabins to be about conjuring a certain kind of feeling, and we think an important part of that comes from knowing how every shack. is made - where the care and considerations extend beyond stunning design and masterful build, but touch upon something much bigger.
We believe we can bring joy and value to everyone's home... and for us that means stepping lightly and taking care of how we treat this one big blue and green cosmic ball that's home to us all.
Back story.
Batman Begins… Casino Royale… The Godfather part 2… shack. - there’s always an origin story. How did it all begin? Where did it all start?
shack. was founded by radio host and TV presenter, Sam Pinkham.
You may have heard Sam on Virgin Radio’s breakfast show with Chris Evans, though it was while recently filming Channel 5’s ‘Holiday Homes in the Sun’ that the shack. concept first started to take shape.
Throughout the ‘Holiday Homes’ season, Sam met dozens of cabin owners - people who had cabins as a second home, or who had built cabins in their garden and where, in almost every instance, the rental income from the owner’s cabin was paying the bills on their main house. This seemed really shrewd, and clearly welcome, given the backdrop of escalating living costs that we all have to deal with these days.
And so it was from this clear ambition, to help ease or even lift the financial stress felt by homeowners and families, that we now have shack.
